MLSN Sports Picks - Digital Chocolate, Inc.

Demo Says:
A year ago, Digital Chocolate founder Trip Hawkins described the mobile phone as a social computer. Today, he returns to this conference to introduce a set of games that delivers on that prediction. These applications are social experiences that create a connection among members of special interest communities, and transform the way we think about multi-player games.

We Say:
Don't underestimate Trip Hawkins, the guy that built EA, 3DO, and a host of other companies.
That said, with only $21.4M raised from tier 1 vc's KP and Sequoia, Digital Chocolate faces stiff competition from Jamdat, Glu Mobile (formerly Sorrent), mForma, and others. It will be interesting to see what second generation mobile apps - MLSN Sports Picks, gambling, dating, social networking, p2p, etc - the company will launch. We're sick of Jamdat bowling and Blue Lava/Jamdat tetris.
