FilmLoop - FilmLoop, Inc.

FilmLoop is free software that gives you the power to create new loops or join existing ones. Loops are strings of images that move across your desktop. They can tell stories, showcase products, communicate ideas, and link to websites. A loop can contain photos of your family's latest vacation, images of the latest happenings around the world, or pictures that link to the latest properties in your local real estate market. And, changes to a loop automatically update on the desktops of everyone in your loop, whether it's two, ten, or a million people.

Pretty cool tool. Business model is still a bit unclear after listening to their DEMO presentation. If they are selling the filmloop technology (such as w/ Purina.com), the assumption is that asp's will be rather low as this is simply a feature. The founders mention a key strategic partnership with Photoblog - 12m unique visitors a month - whereby they insert a loop button into the pages. Not sure how the company will monetize this relationship and grow the revenues to a sustainable business with more than $10M+ revenues. The better use for the technology is to leverage the community and social networking aspect of the site (a la flickr, webshots, ofoto, myspace). And, another creative model would be to insert ads into the loops or to use the technology as an ad medium of some sort. That would create further value to the company and allow it to be an acquisition target to, say, a Google (more for the technology feature, less for the ads), Yhoo, Newscorp.

****According to "hiten", the partnership is with Photobucket.com, not photoblog.com. Apologies for the confusion.
