Deutsche Telekom buys stake in Jajah of 'less than 5 pct'

"Deutsche Telekom AG bought a stake of 'less than 5 pct' in US internet telephony firm Jajah, Handelsblatt said, citing Jajah's co-founder Roman Scharf.

He said taking a stake in Jajah enabled Deutsche Telekom (nyse: DT - news - people ) to offer its customers a way to cut costs without switching their fixed-line providers.

Jajah also held talks with Deutsche Telekom's rival Vodafone (nyse: VOD - news - people ), about taking a strategic stake in Jajah, but the UK company lacked worldwide fixed-line products, the paper said."
