"Sevin Rosen Funds, a top-tier, early-stage venture capital firm, yesterday celebrated its 25th anniversary in the venture industry with a celebratory event in Palo Alto for its partners, entrepreneurs and investors.

Founded in 1981 by L.J. Sevin and Ben Rosen, Sevin Rosen Funds has risen to become one of the premier U.S. venture capital investment firms with a national investment focus. The firm has raised funds in excess of $1.8 Billion, currently has more than 60 active companies in its portfolio and is investing its ninth fund. Sevin Rosen Fund's recent investments include XenSource, Metabolon, Alder Biopharmaceuticals and Verified Persons.

Sevin Rosen Funds began its history by investing its first fund in companies such as Compaq, Electronic Arts, Lotus Corporation and Silicon Graphics. In the following years, the firm incubated a number of companies, including Cypress Semiconductor, Cyrix, Citrix and Ciena, which went on to become market leaders.

'The past 25 years have witnessed an acceleration of innovation in an expanding set of markets and technologies,' commented Steve Dow, a partner with Sevin Rosen since 1983. 'Our goal of helping to turn big ideas into big companies propelled our collaboration with leading entrepreneurs to launch industry giants like Compaq and Citrix. Today, our partnership with entrepreneurs fuels an emerging generation of great companies, such as Wayport, NetLogic, Nanomix, Teneros and Luminescent.' "
