Cisco Acquires FineGround

"Expanding its foothold in the network equipment market, Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO - news) has announced the acquisition of FineGround Networks, a maker of network technology. The US$70 million deal will give Cisco access to FineGround's equipment, which is geared toward improving end-user response time, reducing application bandwidth usage and reducing server load."

FineGround was founded in 2000 backed by NEA (led their first round) and Worldview (led their second round). Last round raised was in March 2001 at a $66M post. $21.3M total invested into the company. FineGround competes with f5, Netscaler and others.
