Kayak raises money from Sequoia

Kayak.com, a travel information web site, has completed a $7 million series B financing round led by Sequoia Capital, a California-based venture capital firm.

The Norwalk, Conn.-based parent company, Kayak Software Corp., has now raised a total of $15.5 million. The additional funding will be used to further product development and expand marketing, according to the company."

The Web site was founded by the creators of Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity in January
2004. Chief Executive and Co-founder Steve Hafner also helped found Orbitz in 1999, while Chairman Terry Jones helped found travelocity.com.

The company is not releasing revenue and traffic numbers at present, but Hafner said Kayak is "very pleased with traffic."

Look for them to compete head on w/ all the online travel sites. Anyone know what's up w/ Sidestep.com?
