New Gmail for iPhone and Android out Today (through Safari)


Google today announced an updated version of their gmail web application.
Features including:
Updated user interface
Faster to open messages
Batch actions - archiving multiple messages at once
Basic offline support

Net net it's a great alternative to IMAP for searching through older emails.

Gmail for mobile requires iPhone OS 2.2.1 or above.

They solved one of the things that the iphone lacks and will be addressing in the 3.0 release.
