"Cavium Networks just filed their S-1, looking to raise a healthy $86M in their upcoming IPO. These guys were the first silicon company whose sole reason to exist was high-performance security processing in the network, and they built their success on the NITROX processors used for high-speed SSL processing and related functions. Their more recently introduced OCTEON processor family is optimized to deliver deep packet processing in the network at wire speed. You can bet the folks over at RMI, another commodity multicore vendor, will be watching intently."
