Amazon.com gets social with Shelfari investment

"It's yet another "social media" company - Shelfari. However, this one got some serious validation as Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) invested in the startup (the amount was not disclosed).
Founded last October, Shelfari is a community for book lovers. In fact, the company calls its users "Shelfarians." Basically, if you decide to become a Shelfarian, you can create your own social group and chat about your favorite books.
The company was also able to attract a top-notch advisory board. Some of the members include: Alex Algard, founder of CarDomain.com and WhitePages.com, and Andy Sack, co-founder of Judy's Book.
No doubt, the relationship with Amazon.com should help Shelfari get traction. "
