EETimes.com - Pioneer of light-emitting silicon raises seed funding

"Si-Light Technologies Ltd., a startup investigating the application of 'dislocation engineering' enabling light emission from silicon at wavelengths between 1.1 and 1.6 microns, has obtained seed funding of ý£150,000 (about $280,000).
Si-Light (Guildford, England) obtained the money from the Cascade Fund, a funding body that supports early-stage spinoffs from five universities in southeast England. Si-Light is a spinoff from the University of Surrey and co-founders Russell Gwillam and Guosheng Shao are joint inventors of the company's dislocation engineering technology. "
