JMP considering IPO as boutique-bank stocks soar - MarketWatch

"JMP Securities LLC is considering selling shares in an initial public offering, lured by the soaring shares of rival investment-banking boutiques such as Greenhill & Co., Lazard Ltd. and Thomas Weisel Partners.
'Very clearly, an IPO is something that may occur,' said Craig Johnson, president of San Francisco-based JMP, in an interview on Monday. 'The invisible hand of the market has a very positive view of businesses like ours. The stars are aligning in such a way that this is an alternative now.' "
