No shortage of Wi-Fi wannabes / 26 respond to call in S.F. for setting up a wireless network

"MetroFi of Mountain View, one of 26 respondents to San Francisco's request for comments, said it can pull off the feat with even faster speeds than the search engine giant. Other respondents suggest that the city can pay for the network but offer Wi-Fi service free to customers with revenue gained by charging for local advertising. One company suggests basically tacking on wireless to existing DSL outlets."
