Jerome Williams Retires From the NBA, Will Remain Wit

"A lot of guys play for the championship, but I don't live
for it,'' Williams said, adding that he would've played for New
York next season if he wasn't waived. ``The only thing I leave
this game regretting is that I didn't dunk on Shaq.'' "

The Knicks cut Williams using the league's amnesty
provision, meaning they'll have to honor the final three years
and $19 million on his contract. The nine-year veteran said he
opted to retire rather than play for another team because of
community-relations commitments he made upon joining the Knicks
a year ago.
