Maytag to Be Bought by Ripplewood for $1.13 Billion

"Maytag Corp., the third-largest U.S. appliance maker, agreed to be bought by Ripplewood LLC and other investors for about $1.13 billion after its shares slumped 45 percent this year amid competition from low-cost manufacturers."

Ripplewood, Goldman Sachs's GS Capital Partners and J Rothschild Group will pay $14 a share, a 21 percent premium to Maytag's closing price yesterday.
