Lip-Bu Tan's China plays

"When Malaysian-Chinese venture capitalist Lip-Bu Tan first made his name in the mid-1990s investing in high-technology startups along the Pacific Rim, the one nation low on his list was China. Sure, he invested there, but only in decidedly low-tech companies such as one of southern China's leading refrigerator-makers, a state-owned company in need of late-stage cash ahead of an initial public offering in then British-ruled Hong Kong."
