Siemens acquires WLAN vendor Chantry - $85M

A source familiar with the negotiations tells Unstrung that the German vendor has forked out around $85 million for the deal. Financial details were not officially disclosed. Chantry differentiator was voWLAN, QoS, and their deep relationship w/ Siemens who invested $6M in March '04 and OEM'd their product.

Good return for the investors, Flagship, OneLiberty, VenturesWest who pumped in $25.7M total.

Look for more consolidation in the space :
He noted that several of Chantry's competitors already have limited partnerships in place, such as Trapeze Networks Inc. with 3Com Corp., Airespace Inc. with Alcatel and Nortel Networks, and Aruba Wireless Networks Inc. with Hewlett-Packard Co. "
