"Claria Corp. said Monday it raised $40 million in venture funding.
Softbank America, Rogers Communications, Asia Pacific Ventures and Sand Hill Capital gave money.
Claria sells software that pays attention to how consumers surf the web and aims particular ads at them based on their interests. The company's programs create a custom home page for browsers -- Claria released a beta version of the system Monday.
The Redwood City company will spend the money developing and marketing its products.
Separately, Claria said it inked a deal with Yahoo Japan to sell its products in that country.
Claria used to sell pop up advertising software, but has said it will leave that business by the end of the second quarter.
