"Siemens VC arm, Siemens Acceleration in Communications, has closed down as we mentioned in a note last week....but now it has sold off its portfolio of 25-odd companies to an undisclosed buyer.
Siemens Acceleration invested in a bunch of mobile content and digital home startups over the last 2-3 years. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction will have no impact on the other venturing units of Siemens, like Siemens Venture Capital (SVC), Siemens Technology Accelerator (STA), and Siemens Technology-To-Business Center in Berkeley (TTB), which will continue and expand their activities.
The funny (or disturbing) part? Two of the companies in the portfolio e-mailed me and told me that even they don't know who bought them...well, we'll try and find out.
