Free 411 service has a nice ring, but Jingle's comes with a catch - The Boston Globe

"The free 411 call is making a comeback, but it might prove costly to the business you want to call.

Jingle Networks Inc., a start-up that has raised $5 million in venture capital, is offering free directory assistance -- though customers won't necessarily wind up with the number they were originally seeking.
When phone users call Jingle's service, 1-800-FREE411, and ask for a number of a local pizzeria, florist, or plumber, they may first hear a 10-second audio message offering to redirect them to a competing business that's a Jingle advertiser."
