meebo.com

lots of noise surrounding meebo.com - the young techy team is getting a lotta buzz w. their sticky ajax app - closest comp is trillian and deadaim.

as a business, however, how is the company going to be sustainable and grow to make money?

here are some ideas:
1) k.i.s.s. work on UI, reliability of service and qos.
as aim is adding all these inconvenient ad pop ups, plaxo features,video/messaging services, and other very annoying revenue generating features, the company will no doubt lose users who will either use other aim programs (like meebo) or get on yhoo, msn, goog talk.

2) license the technology to enterprises.

3) grow the user base. not very hard. the app will sell itself. more users = more value to the company remember skype? 50m users, 7m revs and a billion dollar+ valuation. even if meebo gets 1/10 of 1% of that you'll still be making some good loot.

4) slowly add contextual search (adsense) to the meebo background. don't doubt the ad model. it works with scale.

5) like deadaim or flickr pro, add a paypal link for users to purchase an upgraded service.

6) create new bzzzwords: meeblogging. meeespacing.

7) wait for goog to buy you.

8) integrate w/ pay per call the next new new thing imo.

9) or what about adding the 5 meebillion dollar meebo page.
